Sterling wins Californian bridge contract

Sterling subsidiary Myers & Sons Construction has been named as the apparent low bidder for a US$21.9m bridge project in Stockton, California.

The McHenry Avenue corridor improvements project involves the replacement of an existing two-lane bridge over the Stanislaus River with a new 1,138ft, 78.5ft-wide bridge with 17,000 linear feet of stone column ground improvements. The project is scheduled to begin in April and is expected to be completed by mid-2020.

Sterling’s chief executive officer Paul Varello said: “The McHenry Avenue corridor improvements project will significantly improve traffic circulation, safety, and air quality.”
