Contractor picked for Arizona’s first LNG storage facility

Matrix Service Company has won an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for Arizona’s first natural gas storage facility.

The work is for Southwest Gas Corporation’s Southern Arizona Reliability Project. The LNG storage and vaporization facility will include a 2.8-million-gallon single containment LNG storage tank, as well as a vaporization unit with a capacity of 65,000 million cubic feet a day.

The facility is being built to improve gas supply reliability. Southwest Gas provides natural gas services to nearly two million customers in Arizona, Nevada and California.

"We are very pleased to have been selected by Southwest Gas as the EPC contractor on this important project," said Matrix Service Company CEO John R Hewitt.

Groundbreaking planned for late summer.
