Enercon joins team for completion of stalled Alabama nuclear plant

Enercon Services is joining SNC-Lavalin’s team for the completion of the Bellefonte nuclear generation station in Hollywood, Alabama.

SNC-Lavalin signed a letter of agreement with Nuclear Development earlier this month to provide engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) to complete construction of the Bellefonte Unit 1 Nuclear Generating Station, which has been at a standstill for 30 years (link opens in new tab).

Nuclear Development succeeded in late 2016 in its bid to acquire the unfinished facility from Tennessee Valley Authority; it plans to complete construction and operate the plant.

Enercon has now signed a memorandum of understanding with SNC-Lavalin to support the completion of, once the acquisition of the facility is complete.

“We are excited to partner with SNC-Lavalin to bring the Bellefonte 1 facility to completion,” said Robert Bryan, chief operating officer of Enercon. Enercon has been supporting nuclear power generation for 35 years and and holds Engineer of Choice (EOC) contracts with 80% of the nuclear fleet.
