Nicholson Construction has won a US$20m micropiling contract as part of a major project to improve the I-95 in Pennsylvania.

The Pittsburgh-based geotechnical general contractor will be installing 1,759 micropiles as part of the replacement of a three-mile elevated section of I-95. The general contractor for the project is James J Anderson. Nicholson’s portion of the work is expected to be completed in 2020

I-95 project is a long-term, multi-phase Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) initiative to rebuild, improve and widen sections of the road.

Nicholson has worked on a number of other projects with PennDOT, including a current micropile contract for the Walsh/Granite JV involving a bridge replacement on SR23 in Columbia.
