Plans announced for $400m Georgia factory

Paper-products manufacturer Irving Consumer Products is to invest US$400m in a new plant in Georgia, creating hundreds of construction jobs.

The plant in Macon-Bibb County will be used to make tissues.

Engineering and planning are currently under way; construction will begin this summer and is expected to be completed in 2019. At the height of construction, more than 540 people will be employed on-site.

Irving Consumer Products produces store-brand paper products for several North American retailers, as well as tissue brands such as Majesta, Royale and Scotties in the US. The company’s products include facial and bathroom tissue, household towels and napkins.
