Plans unveiled for $362m Springboro development

Plans have been unveiled for a proposed mixed-use development in Springfield, Ohio.

The proposed development for the south side of Austin Boulevard, officially named Austin South Springboro, was shown at last week’s meeting of the city council.

In all, approximately US$330m in private investment is proposed for the site.  The city, through a development agreement, has agreed to provide US$32m in public infrastructure such as roads, sidewalks and lighting to accommodate the project.

Austin South Springboro will incorporate a mix of uses, including retail, restaurants, corporate offices, hotels, assisted living, medical offices and multi-family apartments and townhomes.

The uses proposed for the development will mirror many of those on the north side in Austin Landing, but the city said that it will be very strict on the road layout and traffic patterns to ensure easier vehicular and pedestrian access.  All the public infrastructure will be constructed first and then the amenities and buildings will be constructed afterwards.

It is intended for the infrastructure construction to start in late spring next year.
