Team picked for Fort Lauderdale aquatic centre

Fort Lauderdale has chosen the design-build team that will carry out renovations at the city’s aquatic center.

Hensel Phelps, Cartaya & Associates and Weller Pools have won the US$27m contract, which includes demolition and new construction of all swimming pools to upgrade and meet international swimming and diving competition standards. The team will also build new grandstand seating for spectators, new public restrooms and a new teaching pool.

The complex is attached to the International Swimming Hall of Fame; it is located on a pier that extends 600 feet over the Intercoastal Waterway. Design and preconstruction will begin immediately to fast-track the project for summer 2020 completion.
