Tindall picked for precasting of modular jail cells

Tindall Corporation has won a contract for the precasting of concrete modular cells for the relocation of a jail in New York state.

Tindall will work alongside LeBella Associates and BBL Construction to rebuild the Schoharie County Public Safety Facility, which is being relocated after sustaining flood damage from Tropical Storm Irene in 2011.

Schoharie County has decided to rebuild its new complex outside of the floodplain rather than stay in the original location. County officials worked with the Federal Emergency Management Agency to secure US$37m in public assistance and disaster relief funding.

Tindall will produce 68 precast concrete cells from its Conley, Georgia, manufacturing facility. The jail cells range from 70 to 104 square feet and will arrive by truck complete with pre-installed furniture and detention fixtures.

Construction of the project is set to start at the end of 2018 and take 16-18 months to complete.
